Freeriding and ski touring

Also the Alta Badia offers fresh powdersnow and beautiful untouched slopes

The Alta Badia is very popular with those who love ski touring and freeriding, as it offers lots of opportunities to undertake tours in the astonishingly beautiful landscape of the Dolomites. Nevertheless these sports require fitness and you absolutely have to know the terrain. Moreover you shouldn’t disregard snow and weather conditions. Just turn to an alpine guide, who will give you advice (e.g. Alta Badia Guides, phone: +39 0471 836898).

If you are a passionate freerider, you might have heard about the Val Mezdì, a narrow valley in the Sella Group. In order to ski it down - recommended only to experienced freeriders - you should best take the funicular to Mt. Sass Pordoi and walk to the Rif. Boè mountain hut. This is where the adventurous freeride begins. Slightly more simple is the freeride Mt. Piz Ciampei - Armentarola.

Among ski tourers, however, the First World War Ski Tour as well as the Lagazuoi Circuit are famous. Both lead you to the traces of the Mountain Warfare 1915 - 1918 on Mt. Col di Lana and Mt. Lagazuoi. The latter is included in the length of the First World War Ski Tour, and both offer the possibility to ski down the Armentarola, one of the most impressive downhill runs of the Alps.
