Not only rugged peaks and gentle hills characterise the landscape of Alta Badia, but also some mighty lakes.
One of these lakes is Lake Lagazuoi (Lago di Lagazuoi), a lake that is rich in fish, located 3 km in the south east of San Cassiano. It is situated at the border of the provinces of Belluno and Alto Adige, as well as along the Dolomite high path n° 1 and the path that leads from Capanna Alpina to Lagazuoi. The striking mountain that towers above the lake is Cima da Lago. This lake is also a popular hiking destination.
There is also the biotope lake Soscofes, which is perfectly suitable for a jump into its cool waters during summer months.
Another water surface called lake Sompunt is located a 20 minutes' walk from La Villa.
A real jewel, however, is lake Boè located near the mountain station of the Boè funicular. This lake has got a perfect circular shape and seems to have no inlets or outlets.
