Sellaronda Skimarathon 2010

The famous ski touring night race with international participants takes place on March 5, 2010 and this year the sports event takes place for the 15th time.

The Sellaronda Skimarathon is one of the most famous, most challenging and also most spectacular
ski touring races all over. This year’s edition, which by the way is the 15th, takes place on March 5 and again several hundred athletes from all over are going to take part in. The course of the race snakes round the Sella alpenstock in the heart of the Dolomites. As it is challenging also from a technical point of view, this competition is reserved for experts. However, even if you do not take part, also watching this great sports event is a real experience!

One team consists of two athletes, equipped with touring skis, climbing skins and headlamp. The course connects the four Dolomite valleys, includes 42 km and 2,700 m of altitude difference. By turns Corvara, Selva, Canazei and Arabba host start and finish of this race. This years’ edition takes place in commemoration of Diego Perathoner, president and founder of this spectacular night race, who lost his live in an avalanche rescue effort in December 2009.
