Tour de Sas - ski touring competition

On February 2010, Badia is venue for a spectacular and exciting ski touring race, in which athletes traverse the Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature park.

The countdown for this breathtaking race has just begun and hopefully the athletes are already in peak form, as the Tour de Sas, popular national ski touring race, is really a challenging one. The course of the race for male athletes includes 26 km and an altitude difference of 2,300 m, while women overcome a course of 19 km and an altitude difference of 1,700 m. The Tour the Sas is part of the prestigious race series “Coppa delle Dolomiti”, taking place for the 18th time this year.

Start and finish of the race are located at Badia, from this point athletes start going round the local mountain Sasso Croce, four times way up, four times skiing down. On a certain point there is also timekeeping in order to make out the fastest athlete at this point. The best athlete of last year’s edition took 2 hours and 48 minutes to overcome the course, what about this year!? We will see, on February 27, 2010, Tour de Sas day.
