S. Leonardo is a small and quiet place and belongs to the municipality of Badia. This locality is above all a perfect place for those who would like to spend relaxing holidays.
Gentle hills surrounded by breathtaking mountain peaks and a fairytale-like landscape characterise S. Leonardo. The centre of the village is the parish church, the construction of which was initiated by Franz Singer in 1776. In the following years it was furnished with stucco. About two years later Matthäus Günther decorated the interior church with frescos.
In the neighbouring hamlet Oies, located above S. Leonardo, there is the birthplace of Father Giuseppe Freinademetz. The missionary was canonized 67 years after his death. Today his birthplace, but also the sanctuary Santa Croce, are popular pilgrimage destinations.
