Noza da paur

In Alta Badia, weddings used to take place mainly in winter. This was the time of the Noza da Paur, the Ladin peasant wedding

A traditional Ladin peasant wedding included the beautiful traditional costumes of the valley as well as decorated horse-drawn sleighs and a traditional wedding feast with musical accompaniment. The company consisted of the bride and groom - the bride's hair was beautifully decorated with feathers and flowers -, parents, relatives and friends.

The way to the church was usually made difficult for the bride and groom by "Klausen", various performances and blockades to make the journey to the wedding more difficult. The bride's guide could buy the way free by paying a certain sum. Furthermore, goats were dragged in during the feast: the bride and groom's unmarried siblings were supposed to buy them as a mockery.
