The extensive high mountain region in the western Dolomites can be best discovered on the Alta Badia High Route
The Puez Group is bounded by the Val Gardena in the southwest and by the Val Badia in the east. The transition between both valleys is the Passo Gardena mountain pass which separates the Puez Group from the Sella Group. In the northwest the Forcella della Roa ridge represents the passage to the mighty Odle Group. Together they form the Puez-Odle Group - the eponymous nature park protects large part of this mountain range.
In the northern part of the Puez Group there are its highest peaks (Mt. Piz de Puez, 2,918 m a.s.l.). The eastern block, however, mainly consists of the extensive Gardenaccia highland with its moon-like landscape, dominated by the 2,665 m high Mt. Sassongher. The Alta Badia High Route starts in La Villa and leads through the pristine landscape of the two nature parks Puez-Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies. From mountain hut to mountain hut this beautiful route can be done within 6 days.
