Cosy and rustic alpine huts offer music and entertainment for a successful end to a skiing day
The last run of the day is behind you, your legs are tired but you're still full of energy? Perfect, because now the cosy part begins: après-ski. Whether you want to end the day relaxing with friends or party into the night - there are plenty of suitable huts and bars waiting for you along the pistes and at the valley stations.
The term comes from the French and literally means ‘after skiing’. It stands for everything that comes after taking off your skis: good music, a lively atmosphere and cosy get-togethers in rustic huts or modern umbrella bars.
What would après-ski be without the right drinks? The classics include warming specialities such as Jagertee - a strong blend of black tea, rum and spices - or a ‘Heiße Oma’, warm egg liqueur with a topping of cream. Of course, there are also clear schnapps on offer, for example the aromatic ‘Zirbeler’ made from Swiss stone pine cones. And for those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, fruity cocktails are mixed. The right music ensures the right atmosphere: from immortal classics such as Wolfgang Ambros' ‘Schifoan’ to the latest party hits, everything is played to match the festive mood.
