To the Armentara Meadows and the La Crusc Church

This walk to the “Roda de Armentara” is one of the most popular spring walks in Alta Badia

The Armentara Meadows, located above the village of La Val, are particularly striking due to the sea of flowers that covers these meadows in the months of spring - a real must-see! Primroses, globe-flowers, anemones and gentian as far as the eye can see make these meadows a popular excursion destination.

Our hike starts in Badia, where we first walk from the valley station of the Santa Croce Chair Lift through the centre of San Leonardo and then follow the marker “Roda de Armentara” (no. 7A). The asphalt road is soon replaced by a forest road. Past farms we walk through the forest and reach the meadows of Cialaruns at 1,600 m a.s.l. There the path starts which leads across the wide flower meadows of Pre Comun to the higher located alpine pastures of Armentara. Here the scenic beauty of the Fanes Group, which forms the backdrop to the landscape, is combined with the species-rich meadows that belong to the Fanes-Senes-Braies nature reserve. At about 1,800 m a.s.l. we reach the Ranch d Andre’ mountain hut at the edge of the forest, which is famous for its good cuisine.

After lunch, we continue on the path no. 15A, which takes us directly to the hospice and sanctuary of La Crusc at 2,045 m a.s.l. Overwhelmed by the beauty of the Dolomite landscape and nature, we then take the cable car and the chair lift, whose mountain station is located just below the pilgrimage site, back to our starting point in Badia.
