Path of the Larches

This theme path on the border of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park is dedicated to the larch forests and the world of the Dolomites

The Path of the Larches "Tru di lersc" offers a wonderful opportunity to combine a short hike with spectacular panoramic views on the Dolomites. Along the 5.3 km long trail you can also admire the characteristic wooden fences, dry stone walls and a water mill. The circular trail starts at the Rü Farmstead in San Cassiano and leads past the Larjei and Rudiferia Farms.

The hike is above all beautiful in autumn when the needles of the larch trees turn yellow, orange and brown and illuminate the area in a golden sea of light. Also in winter it's an interesting experience, leading past the snow-covered farms. A series of information panels along the way tell about the characteristic properties of the plants, the fauna and the geology in this part of Alta Badia.

The theme trail runs along the edge of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park to the highest point of the hike at 1,740 m a.s.l. and then back to San Cassiano again. Also guided hikes with a visit to the above mentioned water mill are offered regularly.
