Hike from La Val to the Ju de Rit pass

A pleasant walk through the woods and meadows of La Valle, passing at the famous St. Barbara Chapel near Tolpei.

The village of La Val (La Valle) offers a suggestive and picturesque natural landscape - it is one of the less known locations of the Alta Badia. Here the culture and nature merge one in the other and the result is a perfect symbiosis. During this hike, which is suitable for families, we will discover the biotope on the Ju de Rit, the connection with San Vigilio di Marebbe.

Our starting point is the parish church of the village, we follow the path no. 6, a meditative trail which leads us to the St. Barbara Chapel. This holy building dates back to the 15th century and can be considered as the symbol of La Val. After few steps we find the steeple of the old church of La Val and a wonderful landscape with picturesque farmsteads.

We walk on the asphalt road toward east to reach the parking space next to the wood. Here we follow the path no. 15 towards northwest and we walk through meadows and woods to reach a forest road. After 20 minutes climbing up, we arrive at the biotope lake at 1,860 m asl. For all those who want to enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Piz de Peres and Mt. Plan de Corones it is possible to go on through the gap to reach the meadows above Marebbe.
