This nature park is bounded by Val Pusteria, Val Badia and Valle di Landro
The Fanes-Senes-Braies nature park comprises the localites Badia, Braies, Dobbiaco, La Villa, San Vigilio di Marebbe and Valdaora as well as a surface of 25,000 hectares. Located in the heart of Dolomite mountains, this legendary nature park is characterised by lush alpine pastures, rugged peaks and mountain lakes as well a unique flora and fauna.
This protected area has been established in 1982 and is an elorado for mountain bikers and hikers. There are also some fixed-rope-routes in the nature park, which is monitored by its inhabitants - golden eagle, steinbock, marmots, chamois as well as amphibians and reptiles. Moreover the area above 2,000 m asl is habitat of mountain hares and snow grouses. On this altitude also edelweiss, dragonmouth and Dolomite yarrow thrive.
In winter the landscape in the nature park is of scenic beauty and can be enjoyed best while doing snowshoeing, sleigh rides, ski mountaineering and winter walking.
A precious jewel in the nature park is Lago di Braies, which can be surrounded on food, enjoying its great location at the foot of majestic mountains. In summer, however, you can take a break from everyday life and do a boat trip on Lago di Braies.
